As a member of a team coordinated by professionals and assigned to a specific service, you may be offered a number of missions, depending on what interests you most and where our needs lie.
You may also have other skills relevant to the running of an organisation that may be of use periodically.
Please note that our work with disabled people takes place on our programmes (find out more on this website). You will therefore not have direct contact with our beneficiaries, but by helping us, you enable us to provide them with assistance in their own communities, often in developing countries.
Here is the kind of help we need regularly at head office :
There are not so many voluntary workers on our programmes, but their contribution is both welcome and valuable.
There are two routes to becoming a programme voluntary worker :
- people residing in a country where we have a programme and who would like to give a little of their time can contact Handicap International's office in the country concerned to see if their profile matches the programme's requirements;
- people residing in France and Europe who are on paid leave or have an alternative source of income may be sent out on short missions (less than 1 month). These short voluntary work missions may be part of an emergency response with urgent needs for direct operational input from health professionals, or they may be to carry out evaluations, audits, collective or individual training, etc. on a development project.
This type of mission often calls for professionals with extensive paramedical experience, and experience of working in international aid and development. Managers with experience of field project and team management for management support missions may also be required.
