Relatively few African films are shown and distributed in France. So, when a feature-length Angolan film, the third produced in the country since 1975, is released in France and when the film in question, produced by Zézé Gamboa, portrays the life of an amputee solider in the sprawling city of Luanda, it is an event for Handicap International to get involved with. We were therefore invited to the official showing of “The Hero” at the International Environmental Festival, which gave us the opportunity to talk about our anti-mine action in Angola. The poster for the film, which was released on December 7th 2005, also bears the Handicap International logo.
