The Handicap International network

The Handicap International Federation was set up in September 2009. It includes the French organisation, the founder of Handicap International in 1982, and organisations subsequently set up in Belgium (1986), Switzerland (1996), Luxembourg (1997), Germany (1998), the United Kingdom (1999), Canada (2003) and the United States (2006).
The Handicap International federal network is a strong and united international organisation that aims to:
• strengthen the effectiveness and reach of Handicap International's actions,
• increase its legitimacy and influence worldwide,
• reinforce and maintain its coherence and identity,
• develop and ensure the long-term future of its resources for action.
The Federation implements social missions common to the federal network, contributes to the federal network's multi-annual strategy, and defines the operational policies and rules common to the whole network.
The Federation's eight national member organisations sit on its governing bodies. They mobilise the financial resources necessary to implement social missions, strengthen Handicap International's image and reputation, and promote the federal network's values and positioning in their respective countries.
